A Hluhluwe man has said he will not be able to forgive the three women who raped him. A video of the incident appeared on social media and has since gone viral. The man, whose name is known to the Daily News, said he was at home when a woman whom he knows called him over, saying she needed help with an electrical problem at her home.
“I went into her house and when I got there, I saw another girl in the room. I did not pay any attention to her. Then another girl who was hiding behind the door closed it, that’s when I realised that something was wrong.”

He said after they closed the door behind him, they told him they wanted to sleep with him.
“I initially thought they were joking,” he said. However, he soon realised they were serious when he was attacked. He said he tried to defend himself but his arm was weak since he had injured it in an accident years ago.
He said he was let go and he went home and took a shower. He said the incident had left him feeling confused.

“I told my older sister about what happened but she thought I was joking.”
It was only after a video appeared online that she took what he said seriously and encouraged him to go to the police. He said he feared going to the police because he thought they would not take him seriously.

“When I told them what happened they were shocked. The three women were arrested the same day I reported the matter.”
The alleged rapists were people he knew and grew up with in the area, he said.
“I’m very angry,” he said of the assault. One of the families of the alleged rapists went to the man’s home to try to make amends, he said.
“My brothers and sisters were not having any of it,” he said. He was looking forward to the trial and wanted the women to be severely punished. “People like that should not be part of society.”
What made it more difficult to move on was that the video was on social media and people had come to ask him what happened.

“It is something I never thought would happen to me. There is not much I can do but try to move on.”
According to Reese Mann, executive director of the South African Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse (Samssa), one out of six males before the age of 18 were sexually abused.
Mann said 19.3% of all sexual violations reported to police involved male victims.

“Male victims of sexual abuse are less likely than their female counterparts to report incidents of sexual abuse, because police and the judiciary don’t take it seriously,” Mann said.
Mann said a widely held myth was that if males got an erection and/or, ejaculated during the sexual abuse, they must have enjoyed it.

“A man being raped can still get an erection because it is in the physiological make-up of males that if they are caressed long enough they end up getting an erection,” said Mann.
He said there was also the myth that men should be capable of protecting themselves against sexual abuse.

“There are three stages that any victim of sexual abuse goes through, and they are called the three Fs.
“They can fight back, they can flee or they are just overcome by fear and the force exerted by the perpetrator, in which case they just freeze,” said Mann.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane, confirmed the incident and said the women had appeared in the Hluhluwe Magistrate’s Court last Thursday and were expected to appear again on Tuesday for a bail application.

Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, 24, dies in boating accident in Florida

Miami Marlins, an American professional baseball team based in Florida, lost its pitcher José Fernández, 24, in a tragic accident after a boat he was on struck a Miami Bay jetty at high speed and overturned on Sunday September 25th. Two other yet to be identified men also lost their lives in the accident. Their bodies were found after Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were called out to Miami Beach. The photo of Jose above was taken hours before the accident yesterday...





Two bodies were found under the boat and one was found in shallow water. None was wearing life jackets, but Fernandez (pictured above) was said to have died due to impact, not drowning.



The investigation has been handed over to the police and because the boat hit a jetty, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). A representative of The FWC said:
"It does appear that speed was involved due to the impact and the severity of it. The boat seemed to be coming at full speed when they encountered the jetty, and the accident happened."
A police spokesman said that the rocks were hard to see at night, and while the boat had been used in the area it was possible the driver had sailed off-course without realizing. The investigation is ongoing, with toxicology reports yet to be performed, although neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors.



Fernandez, who defected from Cuba aged just 15, became American in 2015. He is survived by his family and pregnant girlfriend, Carla Mendoza.

Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan collapses in Adamawa state

Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, yesterday reportedly collapsed while speaking to some Internally Displaced Women at a camp in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to Thisday, Alhassan who recently had a knee surgery in the US and presently walks with the aid of crutches, collapsed while speaking to women alleged to be victims of sexual molestation in the IDP camp. Alhassan was revived with a bottle of soft drink.

According to some of her aides, she has been diagnosed with low sugar which causes her to be weak. Alhassan later told journalists at the camp that her fact finding mission to the camps in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno state tend to confirm the allegation made by a foreign NGO that some of the women and girls in various IDP camps were being sexual molested.

Iranian para-cyclist dies after crash at Rio Paralympics

An Iranian para-cyclist, 48 year old Bahman Golbarnezhad died Saturday after a crash during a race at the Rio Paralympics. The crash took place in a mountainous part of the race's course, which are the same circuitsalos used in the Rio Olympics.

He initially survived the crash and received treatment at the side of the road but had a Cardiac arrest on his way to the Paralympics' athlete hospital. The International Paralympic Committee said he was rushed to a Rio hospital where he died, it also said it would launch an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

The IPC President Philip Craven added in a statement:

“This is truly heartbreaking news and the thoughts and condolences of the whole Paralympic Movement are with Bahman’s family, friends, and teammates as well as the whole of the National Paralympic Committee of Iran".The Iranian flag was lowered to half mast in the Paralympic Village and there will be a moment of silence during closing ceremonies on Sunday.

Golbarnezhad also competed in the 2012 Paralympics in London.

Golbarnezhad's death was the first during competition at any Olympics Games since 1960, when Danish cyclist Knud Enemark Jensen died during the 100km team time trial in Rome.

On seeing her tiny structure inside the incubator , I cried like I never cried before. I asked God , why , why me ? After crying out my heart , I realized only a miracle could save her . She is the reason till today , why my faith in God is so strong . I laid my hands over her and prayed. I did not know what to pray about , but I prayed my pains onto God and begged God not to allow my sins / punishment for my numerous transgressions be passed unto my little girl. I made a vow to God . 3 days later I went and paid the vow to my Church to be passed unto the poor and needy . My Pastor prayed with me. I prayed that my daughter would leave that Hospital without complications hence the vow/ deal with God . My daughter is 14+ years old now , straight A student , speaks 3 international languages already , and she left that Hospital without complications what else can I say . My pain as I saw it then was actually God's way of drawing me closer to come to know him and have faith in him to prepare me for the movement that was to come . Spanish inventors create hands-free urinal for men

Three Spanish engineers from Valencia have invented a hands-free urinal for men dubbed the 'penis-bidet' and it comes complete with soap and drier. The Urinal 2.0 will wash and dry genitals after every trip to the toilet. Sensors in the machine detect when the men are done splashing before dousing the private parts with a three-second spray of soapy water.

Once covered, a blast of hot air dries the privates, so that they can be slipped back into their underwear.
Eduard Gevorkyan, the biochemist behind the idea, said:

'We came up with the use of sensors, so that the user does not have to touch anything and everything is as hygienic as possible.'
He teamed up with economist Ivan Giner and business coach Miguel Angel to patent the design which is ready to go to the prototype stage.




Mr Gevorkyan has vowed the machine will work regardless of the size of the user's manhood, 'so that no-one in the world be discriminated against'.

According to The Guardian, Ibru died in the United States on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, where he was receiving treatment.

Olorogun Michael Christopher Onajirevbe Ibru (OFR) was born on December 25, 1930 to Chief Peter Epete Ibru and Chief (Mrs.) Janet Omotogor Ibru, in Warri, Delta State.

He attended Igbobi College, Lagos between 1948 and 1951, after secondary school, he joined the United African Company (UAC), as a management trainee.

His sojourn in UAC was short-lived as his entrepreneurship instincts gave him the insight to form a partnership with his former boss, Jimmy Large, known as Labru.

According to reports, Labru was established as a trading company with tentacles spreading into other West African nations, before Ibru discovered that the frozen fish market had enormous potentials.

In 1975, the then Midwest State government appointed the business mogul as a member of the Provisional Council of theUniversity of Benin.

As a result of his success in business, Olorogun was appointed as a member of the Economic Cabinet Committee of the former Midwest State, the African Development Bank President’s Round Table of Businessmen in Africa, the Business Advisory Council of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

He was awarded the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) in 1981 by the Shehu Shagari administration.

Academic institutions also awarded him with various honorary degrees. He bagged the Honorary Doctor of Laws (Hon. LL.D.) of the University of Benin (1978) and University of Ibadan (1978), Doctor of Agriculture (Honoraris Causa), University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, 2004.

American, 57, hangs himself in Lekki hotel (Information NG)


The corpse of a 57-year-old American man was found dangling from a rope in a hotel in Lekki, Lagos on Tuesday 8 September 2016.

The man identified as Charles Carlson had checked into Ellyx Vile Hotel on African Line, Lekki Phase 1, the day before he was found dead.

His death was confirmed by SP Dolapo Badmos, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, who said they have been directed by the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, to solve the mystery surrounding his death.

She said, “The matter was reported to the police by the manager of the hotel, identified as Vincent Owunke. The guest, Carlson, an American, it was observed did not pick calls to the intercom in his room and he did not come out for breakfast.

“The police are investigating a case of sudden and unnatural death. The American was found motionless and hanged himself with a rope close to the door. The CP, Owoseni, has directed the case to be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for further investigation.”

Mr Carlson's body was discovered after workers at the hotel broke the door of his room after he failed to show up for breakfast as usual and did not pick up his calls.

Yesterday, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria visited Edo state for a grand campaign of the All Progressives Congress`. The entire city was locked down as several access roads were blocked. A citizen by the name Solomon Idiogbe, a former State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter was driving along Ibiwe/Isekhere Street and got held up in a traffic lock-jam, an army officer who was wearing mufti came to meet him and asked him to move backward which he argued that there is a commercial bus behind him, that the officer should ask the bus behind to move backward first. Upon saying that, the officer became furious and dealt him blows and slaps, further threatening to deal with him, he went further by trying to handcuff him, which Idiogbe resisted while still on the car. Let it be noted that, the President never used that road and could not have used it owing to the terrible state of the road The next that the army officer did was to start calling his colleagues who arrived at the scene in a commando style shooting sporadically into the air. They all descended on him using the butts of their guns, kicks and even wooden planks on him. He was forced to swim in the gutters. When they were done with the brutality, they took him to the 4 Mechanized Brigade and another round of beating resumed there and even threatened to shot and thereafter label him terrorist that attempted to kill the President, they accused him of attempting of killing Mr. President, cultist and several unsubstantiated accusations. A search party was formed to look for him, they went to the Brigade headquarters and the gate keepers denied knowledge of such, the Airforce Base was also visited which denied same. It was later he was let go when the Army PRO was called by the Coordinator General of Edo Civil Society Organisations to draw his attention to the incident. This is a pure violation of a Nigerian's right for no offence committed save that he drove on Nigeria's road which was constructed by his tax money. This is an abuse of Human Rights in the 21st century by the military and in a democratic Nigeria. WHERE IS OUR FREEDOM? WHERE IS OUR DEMOCRACY? The presidential car of Russia's president Vladmir Putin was on Tuesday involved in a ghastly car crash on Kutuzovsky Avenue, Moscow, Russia, instantly killing Putin's favorite chauffeur of over 40 years experience. The presidential BMW was travelling on Kutuzovsky Avenue in the Russian capital when a Mercedes veered from the other side of the road, smashing into it head-on.

It is not known if the car crash was an attempted attack on the World's most powerful man who was pictured on Monday at the G20 summit in China.

Russian Police are currently investigating the car crash and it's not known yet if the other car driver was injured or is dead. Putin, in 2017, will be the first recipient of a new Russian-built luxury limousine- Kortezh, or Cortege which are bomb, bullet and gas proof, similar to the 'beast' driven by Barack Obama.

Stella Oduah's ex husband asks her to return body of their son to Warri for proper burial

Former husband of Senator Stella Oduah, Lt-Col. Satchie Emmanuel Etoromi (rtd.) has prevailed on her to return the body of their son, Maxwell Chinedu Toritseju Etoromi, for proper burial in Warri, Delta State.‎ Maxwell, the 28 year old son of the former Minister of Aviation died at a Turkish Hospital in Abuja from brain hemorrhage.
The ex husband of the former Minister spoke with journalists in Warri, Delta state yesterday, shortly after sending a powerful delegation to his royal majesty, Igwe D. O. Oduah, the Igwe of Akili Ozizor, Ogbaru in Anambra State, to express his sadness over the death of his son and how he was treated by the Senator.

In a letter to the royal father titled, “Appeal To Intercede to Ensure Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah Brings My Son, Maxwell Chinedu Obiechina Wereyesigha Toritseju Etoromi To MeIn Warri For Burial,” the bereaved father said his estranged wife had not deemed it fit to inform him of the demise of their son and that he read the sad news on the pages of newspapers.

“His Royal Highness Igwe Oduah 1 betrothed Stella Oduah to me on 18th November 1984 in Akili Ozizor. We married on the 16th of December 1984 in His Highness`s Palace in Akili Ozizor. After the payment of dowry and exchange of gifts, we were taken to Nde-Mili where we performed the final rites. I am surprised to see in the internet stories that my son Maxwell Omabuwa Temisanre Obiechina Wereyesigha Toritseju Chinedu Etoromi who Stella delivered for us on 14th March 1988 at 05.00 hour in St Mary`s Hospital Ugboroke Warri is dead”, the bereaved father said in the letter.
He alleged that up till now, his enstranged wife had not contacted him on the death of their son only for her to commence preparation to bury him last Friday in her home town.

“Up till now Stella has not told me my son died in her custody. There is rumour that my son will be buried in Akili Ozizor. That is not acceptable at all. My son must be brought to me in Warri for internment”, he lamented.
In the letter which was copied to Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, The Arch-Bishop of Onitsha, and the Parish Priest, Father, Donald Uzoh of Sacred Heart Parish, the bereaved father insisted that his late son must be returned for proper burial in his father’s place.

Chief Etoromi explained to the monarch that the stories needed not be told now, but his grief about his son's death was too much to bear, hence he is reacting this way.
