19-yr-old boy in prison for raping 35-yr-old woman in Ekiti



At an age he should be in school, this teenager has been remanded in prison for raping a 35-year-old woman as she was coming back from her farm.

A 19-year-old boy, John Julius, who should be in school, has however, been remanded in prison by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ekiti State, for allegedly rapinga 35-year-old woman.


According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Bayo Ajiboye, the suspect had waylaid the woman on her way from her farm on July 12, 2016, at Efon Alaaye, and forcefully assaulted her, inflicting injuries on the victim, which led to her being hospitalised.

Ajiboye added that Julius’s offence, contravened Section 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16,Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

Ruling on the case, Magistrate Modupe Afeniforo ordered that the suspect be remanded in prison custody pending when a duplicate of the case file would be studied and returned by the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), for legal advice.


Afeniforo therefore, adjourned the case till August 19 for further mention.
