World bank personnel drown in Ekiti river


The victims were members of a 7-man group working on a World Bank project.






Tragedy struck in Ekiti State as four persons reported to be workers of the World Bank drowned in Egbe River located at Egbe community of Gbonyin Local Government Area.

The men were on a World Bank assessment mission which commence on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, when their boats capsized, Daily Post reports.

Seven persons were on-board the boat when the incident.



The surviving three got lucky because they wore a life jacket, which prevented from drowning, while the other four without safety wears unfortunately kicked the bucket.

The son of a World Bank contractor, whose name was not disclosed is reportedly one of the victims.
